The brainchild of songwriting troubadour Red Shahan and musical comrade Parker Morrow, the Caveman Music Festival found its idyllic home in Weston after the duo took a deep breath of the crisp mountain air and proclaimed, “This is it.” Understanding the paramount importance of location, the festival debuted in 2022, drawing thousands of music enthusiasts eager to immerse themselves in the pristine landscape and diverse musical lineup.
The Monument Lake Resort, a gem in Weston’s landscape, serves as the festival’s venue, providing a breathtaking backdrop for the musical festivities. Under the ownership of Brett McGraw since 2021, the resort underwent significant renovations, transforming it into a state-of-the-art destination spread across 368 acres of mountain terrain. While the latter was performing at the resort, McGraw’s serendipitous encounter with Red Shahan marked the inception of a musical journey that would bring the Caveman Music Festival to life.
The festival’s name is steeped in local legend, deriving from a mysterious relic discovered in a cave on the resort’s property. A rock embedded with a footprint, known only to Native Americans for years, adds an air of mystique to the event.
