Monument Lake Colorado 

Located in the Sanger De Cristo Mountains of Colorado, Monument Lake is one of the most beautiful natural lakes in the state. You can bring a small gas or electric motor to the lake, but as or diesel motors are not allowed.

The monument that got its name is the fifteen-foot rock formation that emerged from the center of the lake in the 1930s. It was named for its resemblance to two Indian chiefs. The rock formation no longer exists, but the name lives on. Besides its great fishing, the lake is also home to a variety of wildlife. there are several elk, bison, and turkey enclosures on the rock walls. There is also a zoo that was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
