Monument Lake is a forty-acre reservoir in the El Paso Mountains. The surrounding community of Palmer Lake and Monument Lake form a Tri-Lakes area. The area boasts numerous recreational opportunities and complex network of trails. The weather is generally sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers. The high temperature is approximately 83 degrees. Residents can enjoy fishing, boating, and hiking. There are three public golf courses within the surrounding community. 

It is near Black Forest

Monument is also home to the Air Force Academy, making it an ideal place for winter sports enthusiasts. The Colorado Division of Parks and Recreation stocks Monument Lake regularly with rainbow trout, brown trout, and Kokanee salmon. You can fish from a pier or on one of the many party pontoons at the Monument Lake Resort. 

It is a popular tourist destination 

There are a few things to see in Monument Lake and many visitors enjoy visiting this popular tourist destination. The lake has a long history of delivering water and ice to the area. Electric troll motors are the only vehicles allowed on the lake, but non-motorized boats are available for tourists to rent. Sadly, there are no boat ramps on the lake, making it difficult to launch a boat. 

It was named after two Indian chiefs 

In the 1930s, a fifteen-foot rock formation emerged from the middle of the lake, and the name stuck. The rock formation resembles two Indian chiefs, who cried out for water, so a lake was formed at their feet. Interestingly, a volcano erupted nearby at the same time as the rock formation, making this an apt choice for a place to name a lake. 

It is a sanctuary for the Second Amendment 

Monument Lake is an unincorporated community located in El Paso County, Colorado. It is part of the vast statistical area of Colorado Springs. The town was founded as a station of the Rio Grande Railroad in 1872 and incorporated on June 2, 1879 as Henry’s Station. On July 3, the town’s first town meeting was held. The town was renamed Monument to honor nearby Monument Rock. The town is surrounded by monument Creek. In April of this year, Monument Utah designated itself as a sanctuary for the Second Amendment.
