The parade of Lights in Denver lasts for a maximum of five weeks 

During the holiday season, Denver offers several events to attend. There are many free events such as the Denver Arts Week, the Denver Film Festival, and the Parade of Lights. If you’re driving into Denver, you can park in the Union Station and use public transit to get to downtown Denver. Parking is also available around and underneath the station. If you are a hot chocolate fan, you’ll want to stop by the Pig Train at Union Station for some hot chocolate. 

Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has 85 light sculptures 

If you’re a fan of holiday light displays, you’ll love Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which is now open through January 1st. The zoo features 85 light sculptures on 50 acres, large bonfires, and indoor animal exhibits, which come to life in the glow of the season. 

Old Colorado City transforms into a Dickens-Meets-West Christmas wonderland 

On the west side of Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City transforms into a Dickentastic Dickens-Meets-19th-century Christmas wonderland during the Christmas season. The city’s annual Christkindlmarkt features festive lights, singing, dancing, and wooden vendor huts, authentic German Bier Hall, and plenty of Christmas treats. Locals and visitors alike come to this event to see how Old Colorado City transforms into a Christmas wonderland. 

Manitou Springs transforms into a holiday wonderland 

The holiday season is a wonderful time to visit the historic town of Manitou Springs, which transforms itself into a holiday wonderland during the festival of lights. The town hosts many events throughout the holiday season, including the Manitou Christmas Parade, the lighting of its famous Christmas Tree, and much other fun, family-friendly events. 

Festival of Trees 

The Festival of Trees is a family event with a variety of events and activities for the whole family. In addition to the traditional tree lighting ceremony, the festival also hosts many special events, such as the “Whoville Holiday” and “Watercolor and Wine.” There is a live and online auction, entertainment, and a visit from St. Nick. 


Youth Media Matters Film Festival is a film festival that showcases short films that were directed by youth in Colorado Springs. The event is presented in partnership with the Colorado Health Foundation and the Colorado Office of Film, Television, and Media. Youth-directed films were screened at various schools and a committee reviewed the films. The screenings included topics ranging from teen mental health to race and body image.
